Brewery Description

An amber coloured Barley Wine, made in the traditional way of collecting the first sugar and flavour rich, thick runnings from an enormous mash. Aromas of fruit and grainy malt are followed by complex flavours of rich malt and fruit balanced by a dry bitter background.

ThirstBourne Tasting Notes

This saddle brown Barley Wine poured clear with stable tight cream head. The aroma was woody and resinous but with a sweetness and a hint of the 8.5% ABV. This full bodied beer balances the caramel and marzipan malt flavours with a robust woody hop bitterness. Despite the significant malt presence, the finish is dry and mouthfeel is mouth coating without being cloying. This tasty beer would pair very well with strong flavoured foods.
