This dark brown ale poured clear with medium carbonation. There was a woody aroma with a sweet complex malt aroma that seemed to give flavours of bread, prune, chocolate, banana and a light smokiness.
The flavour was spicy and woody with a very light smoke, white pepper and liquorice. There was a robust hop bitterness that resulted in a dry finish and medium high astringency. Despite the strong flavours the beer had a relatively light body. Tasty complex beer but without being overpowering.
