This black beer was lively out of the bottle and poured with a stable light brown head. There was a delicate aroma with farmyard, sweet apple and the underlying alcohol. There were roasted coffee flavours and a moderate hop bitterness mixed with the robust alcohol. There were no overly acrid flavours from the dark malts and overall this was well balanced and good drinking.
